The resort town was named after the custom of the Zulu maidens to collect salt from the rock pools in the area. The Salt Rock Country Club offers a variety of excellent sporting facilities, including tennis courts, a swimming pool and bowling greens. The main beach has lifeguards and a massive tidal pool. The beach provides some excellent fishing spots and there are beautiful reefs offshore, giving divers hours of enjoyment. Salt Rock boasts a splendid caravan park only s stone’s throw from the beach.
