The cottage and its surroundings cater for many needs - whether you are looking for peace and tranquility or outdoor adventure - there is much on offer.The Cottage is situated in the heart of Lüneburg, which was established as a German missionary post in 1854. Today Lüneburg has an active farming community enjoying all aspects of agriculture including: Timber production, Maize, Dairy and Beef Cattle as well as modern piggeries. Lüneburg is found on the borders of Mpumalanga and Northern Natal, 50km from Piet Retief on the Mpumalanga side and 60km from Vryheid on the Natal side. Accommodation The luxury cottage is self catering, has 3 spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Towels and linen are supplied and changed every 3 days. The open plan kitchen is well equipped with all modern necessities including a complete range of crockery and cutlery, pots and pans. The lounge and dining room open onto a full length covered verandah where a magnificent view of the dam and its birdlife can be enjoyed. The cottage is serviced daily. FISHING Fly fishing is the preferred method of fishing although barbless lures can also be used. The dams on the property are stocked with Florida Bass and Black Bass.
A guided fishing experience in the surrounding area can also be arranged; this would include fishing in the Pongola River for yellow fish and in various sydicate dams found in the area. Should you want to perfect the art of fly fishing – lessons can be arranged. HIKING
2 set routes are available on the farm, do however feel free to meander to your hearts content
Centre Pivot Amble ( +/- 3.4km)
May be muddy in Summer months Leaving the farm along the homestead drive turn left on the main road Turn immediately right onto a farm road – there will be 2 big pine trees on the right Walk down towards the river (may need to take off shoes to cross in the summer months) Follow the right fork once across the stream and head uphill towards the center pivot point From here on keep left wherever possible – making a circular loop back towards the stream
Rensburg’s Loop ( +/- 7.3km)
Behind the lookout point climb over the sty and head towards Nchaga Mountain following the electricity wires overhead, after about 1.8km you will reach the homestead of Volkmar & Silke Böhmer At the farmyard follow the road left down the hill, leaving the farmhouse behind you on the right hand side Travel down the road, at the T-Junction turn left 400m along the road turn left, you will have plantations on your right hand side once you have turned Travel along the path always keeping the plantations to your right and open veld to your left This path eventually passes the Lüneburg Butchery & Store, take the main road (about 1km) home OTHER HIKES IN THE AREA
The Nchaga Hiking trail – this is a daylong hike and not for the faint hearted. The trail is overgrown and some “bundu bashing” may be required. The spectacular view from the top and the fauna and flora along the way do however make up for the hard work. The trail takes you through the Pongola bush a KZN Wildlife Reserve where the rare Samango Monkey is occasionally spotted
The Xhosa Climb – this trail is a short steep climb to the top of Xhosa Hill, you are rewarded with a lovely view of the Entombe Mission farm and Station from the top. The amble down can be enjoyed by taking the road down past pine plantations at a leisurely pace. This walk should take about 3hours. HORSE RIDING Guided outrides are available daily – please book in advance R70.00 per outride. Duration 1 – 1.5hours or tailor made to suit your requirements. HISTORICAL EVENTS Informative guided tours can be arranged to view the historical sites, the area has a wealth of anglo boer and zulu war history. The Lüneburg School hosts a mini-museum which displays a wealth of information from an era gone by. MICROLITE FLYING A view from above will definitely give you a great overall impression of the area and it’s wealth of farming activities. Trips depart from the Paulpietersburg airstrip but are of course dependent on good weather conditions. DirectionsDirections from Johannesburg

After Heidelberg take the R23 - Standerton offramp
Pass through Standerton towards Volksrust
In Volksrust turn left onto the R543 towards Wakkerstroom
26km out of Wakkerstroom take the Lüneburg turnoff
Travel about 30km, look out for the signboard on your right
About 3.5 hours
Directions from Durban
From Vryheid take the R33 towards Paulpietersburg
6km before Paulpietersburg take the Lüneburg turnoff to your left, travel until you come to a T-Junction, turn right,
Travel about 7km and at 2nd road turn left, watch for the sign on your left hand side
