Description

Self catering, fully equipped lodges situated within a private game reserve. Lodges are constructed from wood and glass, with all rooms having sliding doors opening onto private decks. Game viewing can be done from the comfort of your bed because the game very often comes to you!

Toad Tree Lodge is an exclusive destination situated within a private game reserve. It boasts a wealth of Antelope species, as well as Giraffe, Zebra and Wildebeest, all of which are endemic to the area. We are a premier bird lovers destination with 120 species viewed in the lodge gardens alone.

We have an extensive network of walking trails and because we have no dangerous animals, guests are free to explore these on their own. We are a low risk malaria area.

 

Lodges have a Scandinavian feel, constructed from wood and glass. All rooms have sliding doors onto private decks. Game viewing can be done from the comfort of your bed because the game very often comes to you!

The lodges are free-standing and private, with either two or four bed options. All have private en-suite bathrooms with separate, very private, outdoor showers.

Lodges are self catering, fully equipped and comfortably appointed. For guests who wish to eat out there are numerous restaurants and coffee shops within a 15 minute drive of the lodge. They are serviced daily. We are now wheelchair compliant.

ACCOMMODATION:

The lodges have a Scandinavian feel, constructed from wood and glass and are very tastefully and comfortably decorated. All rooms have ceiling fans and full linen is provided including bathroom and pool towels. The kitchens are fully equipped for self catering with fridges, freezers, microwaves, cutlery, crockery, pots/pans and there are braai/barbeque sections for each lodge.

The lodges are free-standing and private, with either two or four bed options. All have private en-suite bathrooms with separate, very private, outdoor showers.

For guests who wish to eat out there are numerous restaurants and coffee shops within a 15 minute drive of the lodge.

We are wheelchair compliant.

Attractions

We are a 20 minute drive to Hluhluwe/Umfolozi Game Reserve. Game drives in open vehicles can be arranged for guests who would like to view the Big 5.

A birding expert is available, and can arrange one or two day birding safaris, or half day walks on our own trails.

Diving courses, from novice to advanced can be organised, as well as recreational diving for those with experience. Sodwana Bay, the best dive destination in South Africa is only a 40 minute drive away.

EXCURSIONS:

Affordable Excursions in open safari vehicles:

• Full day game drive through Hluhluwe/Umfolozi big 5 reserve:
Excellent game viewing as well as tours to areas where Zulu wars were fought. Visit the game capture bomas and stop at either hilltop restaurant or centenary centre for lunch. Duration approx. 10 hrs.

• Half day game drive through Hluhluwe/Umfolozi big 5 reserve:
Half day game drive with breakfast stop (own cost). excellent game viewing. Duration approx. 6 hrs.

• Full day excursion to False Bay and Cape Vidal.
Enjoy a boat cruise on the estuary where you will see salt water Crocodiles, Hippos and a wide range of bird species. Visit the Eastern shore game reserve with a good chance of spotting Elephant,Buffalo and Rhino. Finally relax or snorkel on the beach at Cape Vidal for a couple of hours. Picnic lunch is included. Duration approx.10 hrs

Directions

Toad Tree Lodge is situated inside “Kuleni Game Park”. The game park is situated 18kms from Hluhluwe, in northern Kwazulu Natal, east along the R22 towards Sodwana Bay. Hluhluwe is situated off the N2 Highway which runs from Durban in the south, towards Ermelo, which is west of Swaziland when looking at a map book. Approximate distances are 280km from Durban, and 590km from Johannesburg.
