Description

Built in 1903 with the bricks and wood remaining from the erection of the Pietermaritzburg city hall this Victorian marvel has stood the test of time and has contributed to our history in many ways. Built originally to cater for steam train passengers travelling to the capital city as a half way stop she boasted the only hotel on the SAR line to offer hot running water and electricity. She would in her day boast marble baths and silver ware in true Victorian style. After the first world war the Inchanga Hotel was used as a recuperation facility for injured soldier returning home.

After extensive renovations we are proud to share this piece of history with its Beautifully restored Oregon finishing’s and oak furnishings.

The warmth of this wonderful country hotel is enhanced by many black and white pictures reminiscent of the past fashion and culture in the area.

Standing proud amidst the glorious solitude of the famous 1000 hills and lush KwaZulu Natal countryside, she has borne witness to the history of KwaZulu Natal.

The Inchanga hotel offers overnight guests the chance to relax in on of our20 tastefully decorated old-charm en suite bedrooms. We offer travellers the choice of single rooms, double rooms and family rooms.

Ideally situated halfway between Durban and Pietermaritzburg, this gracious old red-brick building graces the fine KwaZulu Natal countryside and has been a popular refreshment station for over 100 years. Under new ownership and management, the Inchanga Hotel is now ready to once again welcome you with open arms to a venue rich in history and natural beauty.
